The desilting of gutters in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA is currently ongoing, as part of measures to free all chocked drains in the locality to improve free flow of water ahead of the coming monsoon season, the Supervisor for Environment, Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Comrade Toheeb Durosimi has disclosed.
With numerous chocked gutters identified for desilting, the Department of Environment is currently working on Davies Street, Ajelogo, Irawo Road, Owode-Ajegunle, Thomas Laniyan Road, Owode-Ajegunle, Adedoyin Street, Kosofe and Orisigun Street, Kosofe.
Durosimi noted that the desilting of the drains were not enough to prevent flooding, as the LCDA under the chairmanship of Mayor Dele Oshinowo will sustain other measures to ensure zero flood for Agboyi-Ketu in the year 2024.
Among the measures are continous sensitization of residents, desilting of all canals in the LCDA with a swamp buggy, aggressive stoppage of illegal dumping of waste into drains.
Durosimi further urged residents to be responsible towards providing a clean and green environment.
